Hibs have started discussions with Celtic over a loan move for striker Leigh Griffiths and they hope to have the deal in place prior to the transfer window closing.

The Scottish Sun reports the Easter Road side are keen on a permanent move for the boyhood Hibee who netted 39 goals for the club during two previous loan spells when he was a Wolves player.

Frustrated at his role of bit part player at Parkhead, Griffiths would be keen to return to Leith to try to help the club overcome a dismal start to the season.

Following yesterday’s defeat to Alloa who came from a goal down to win the match 2-1, Alan Stubbs certainly doesn’t have his troubles to seek.

Supporters will be looking for Hibs to strengthen well prior to tomorrow’s transfer window slamming shut and it’s believed another Celtic player, Dylan McGeouch, will be arriving on loan.

The midfielder isn’t currently part of manager Ronny Delia’s plans and will be hopeful of holding down a starting spot at Easter Road.
