Hibs can virtually seal a second place finish in the Scottish Championship this Sunday following nearest challengers Rangers 2-2 home draw against Alloa on Tuesday night.

Alan Stubbs men face the light blues at Easter Road and having comfortably beaten the Ibrox side on the three previous occasions the sides have met on League business this season, confidence will be high amongst a Hibees outfit undefeated in four months.

The manner in which Stubbs has his team performing has left fans wondering just what quite could have happened if the popular Liverpudlian had been appointed sooner than four weeks prior to Hibs season opener.

Having endured a quite horrific six months under Terry Butcher its perhaps not a complete surprise to see Hibees fans taking their time to return as paying customers after repeated false dawns under Messrs Collins, Paatelainen, Hughes etc.

Hibs now have a side pleasant on the eye with a real cutting edge and will be desperate to end the season unbeaten against the fallen Glasgow giants.

It is a fixture which could be a prequel for the end of season play-offs but given Rangers current form, even with a supposed boost from the Dave King takeover and appointment of Stuart McCall as manager, there are no guarantees the Gers will even join the party as the Championship calendar reaches its climax with a top four berth far from certain for the Ibrox outfit.
