Some of the biggest and well-known football stars have millions of Twitter and Instagram followers. It’s a way for them to keep their fan base up to date with their comings and goings. Similar to the likes of you and I suppose but with less followers.

Sanitised news often trundles out of club official websites – information will be moderated by the club press office / social media departments. Meanwhile, their employees have a freer rein to update their supporters with what they please, albeit even they will have been briefed by the clubs hierarchy and will have to adhere to their ‘codes of conduct.’

I have to admit many of them could do with a kick up their backside and embrace the digital world as only a few have accounts open to the public. Also, those who have accounts infrequently post.

Official player Twitter and Instagram accounts have a green tick next to them. Moreover, there are hundreds of fake ones out there, and so it’s never an easy task trying to work out the genuine ones.

Does the official Hibernian website have a player page with details of specific player social media accounts?

Let’s take a look at what some of the lads are saying.
