Hibs highly regarded youth team coach, James McDonagh, has left the club to undertake a first team role at fellow Championship outfit Falkirk.

McDonagh confirmed his departure on social media platform Twitter, telling his followers ‘I’d like to say a huge thank you to staff, players, fans, everyone at Hibernian FC for my time at the club. I’ve decided to accept an offer from Falkirk FC as first team coach.

‘I would like to wish everyone every success at Hibs but now I am looking forward to a fantastic opportunity at Falkirk and can’t wait to get started.’

McDonagh has been instrumental in the development of first team players Jordan Forster, Paul Hanlon and Jason Cummings and was held in high esteem by the current youth players as well as former stars such as James McPake.

He’ll now work beside new boss Peter Houston at Falkirk who are aiming to make the Championship play-offs this season although they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cowdenbeath yesterday.

Vital Hibs wish James all the best in his future career.
