Following Chris Hogg’s injury against Motherwell in last night’s CIS Insurance Cup 3rd Round Tie Scotland Under 19 star Darren McCormack is poised to make his first league appearance for Hibs.

McCormack has featured in squads this season and made his professional debut in the CIS Cup clash against Queens Park on August 28th.

He performed well that evening although a lack of experience lead to him being dragged slightly out of position on occasion.

Manager John Collins today spoke of blooding the youngster. He also claimed Alan O’Brien would have been introduced against the Lanarkshire outfit had Hoggy not been hampered by injury. He said ‘I wanted to bring Alan on for his pace but then Chris pulled up and we had to get him off. He suffered a slight strain at the top of his hip. He’s doubtful for Saturday and either Darren or Torben Joneleit will take his place if he doesn’t make it.’

One player who had impressed the manager on Wednesday was Portugese winger Filipe Morais. The speedy wide man came on as a second half substitute for the ineffectual Dean Shiels and Collins commented ‘I thought Filipe was terrific, superb. There’s every chance he will start on Saturday.’
