Everton boss Roberto Martinez has praised incoming Hibs boss Alan Stubbs following his departure from Goodison Park.

Stubbs became the second member of the Toffees backroom staff to depart in a month following Alan Irvine’s surprise appointment as West Brom manager however the Spaniard feel it reflects well on his club as a whole.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Martinez said: “It reflects the excellent work done last season at the club and means it has been seen from the outside as well.

“We`re proud when those individuals that are Everton through and through get noticed and are given rewards and opportunities.”

Stubbs was confirmed as Terry Butcher’s successor at Easter Road yesterday afternoon and he aims to produce a Championship challenging team following the Hibees relegation from the top flight in May.

A press conference is due to be held tomorrow to officially introduce him to the media however he was present at Hibs training centre at East Mains this morning as he begins to evaluate the current squad.

His first game in charge will be on Saturday July 12th July when the Hibees will travel to face Berwick Rangers at Shielfield Park in a pre season friendly.

The match will kick off at 3pm with admission priced at £10 adults and £5 concessions.
