Sky Sports are reporting Neil Lennon’s departure from Easter Road will be confirmed within the next 24 hours.

Lennon was apparently suspended on Friday following a heated team meeting after a shocking display at Fir Park saw the Hibees defeated 1-0.

Despite 4 days of idle speculation, hearsay and rumour, Hibs have failed to release even the briefest of statements conveniently airbrushing the Head Coach’s name when confirming Eddie May and Grant Murray were to be placed in temporary charge of first team affairs ahead of last Sunday’s victory over St Mirren.

With Lennon’s inevitable departure looming, Hibs have been linked to former and current international coaches Gordon Strachan and Graham Arnold however neither exactly float the boat of the support.

The Irishman leaves just 48 hours prior to the transfer window shutting so unless Leeann Dempster and the board have a ready made replacement lined up the proposition of moving to a rudderless ship is unlikely to appeal to any potential recruit who would otherwise have shown an interest in performing at Easter Road.

Speculation will likely be rife in the forthcoming days as to Lennon’s successor. As the club have supported the squad over the manager there had better be an upturn in performances over the next few weeks as there will not be any figurehead to blame but the players themselves.
