Queen of the South have announced they will entertain Hibs in a pre season friendly at Palmerston Park on Saturday 17th July.

The match will be the first clash between the sides since Hibs emeged 2-1 victors in a Scottish Cup tie back in February 2007 thanks to goals from David Murphy and Thomas Showumni.

It will also see Hibs take to the field for the first time since they’ll have found out whom they’ll be facing in the Europa League with the draw being made 24 hours prior.

Queens will be looking to show they can live with the big guns of Division 1 again having finished fourth this season and also contending with the departure of highly rated manager Gordon Chisholm to Dundee.

The news becomes Hibs second confirmed pre-season fixture following the announcement of a challenge match against Carlisle on August 1st with the game taking place at Brunton Park.
