Hibs have been drawn against Dumbarton in the Scottish League Cup, a clash which will see them face up to the managerial duo of Ian Murray and Guilliame Beuzelin, themselves both former Easter Road stars.

The tie is due to take place on 26/27th August with Alan Stubbs men having the benefit of being picked from the hat as the home team.

Murray led his part time side to a highly creditable fifth place finish in the Scottish Championship last season and is now assisted by the popular Beuzelin who joined the Sons following Ross Jack’s defection to Hearts.

Stubbs meanwhile will hope to see his squad embark on a decent cup run and although there were easier ties available, will be hoping home advantage is enough to ensure his players progress to the Third Round.

Last season saw Hibs exit at an early stage when, despite dominating for large spells of an Edinburgh Derby, an inspired performance by Jambo’s ‘keeper Jamie McDonald ensured Ryan Stevenson’s wonder strike sealed a 1-0 victory for Hearts.

The loss to the Tynecastle outfit was the result which confirmed Pat Fenlon’s departure from Hibs with the Irishman tendering his resignation in the fallout from the defeat to the then in Administration club.
