Hibs have identified St Mirren’s Kenny McLean as their top summer transfer target – providing they secure safety in the Scottish Premiership.

Initial discussions between the clubs have taken place with the Easter Road side registering their interest prior to making a bid.

Now facing a relegation play off against either Hamilton or Falkirk, Hibs are aiming to secure the signature of the highly rated Scotland Under 21 international once the transfer window opens should they preserve their top flight status.

McLean is interested in a move east with the Buddies facing a close season of turmoil after it emerged manager Danny Lennon has yet to enter contract talks with the board despite his current deal expiring shortly whilst 12 other Saints stars have yet to hear if they’ll be offered extensions despite Premiership safety being assured two weeks ago.

Capturing the signature of one of the brightest young talents in the SPFL would signal intent from Hibs and go some way to suggesting another season of gross under achievement will not be tolerated.
