A fine exclusive by Kenny Millar at the Scottish Sun has suggested Hibs have extended contracts and offered improved deals for the club’s brightest young talents.

Millar’s report is in today’s edition of the newspaper and informs us Scott Martin has signed up until 2020 whilst promising left back Callum Crane has agreed an improved contract until 2018.

Scotland under 19 international striker Oli Shaw has extended his deal until 2019 with Kane O’Connor, another Scotland Youth International who represented the national side in the recent Victory Shield, prolonging his stay at Easter Road until the summer of 2019 fending off potential suitors from England.

Ryan Porteous, a player I’ve seen on a couple of occasions for Edinburgh City and a centre half with a bright future (bizarrely ignored by Scotland having not found his way to senior level by way of the much lauded centres of excellence) has committed himself to Neil Lennon’s side for five years, a fantastic piece of business by the club.

After the pain of relegation in 2014 which led to the club appointing Leeann Dempster as CEO and her subsequent overhaul of management structures it’s brilliant to see some genuine prospects re-emerge at the club following a stale period after the so called golden generation of the mid 00’s which produced talent of the calibre of Derek Riordan, Kevin Thomson, Garry O’Connor and current Celtic captain Scott Brown.
