St Mirren are on the brink of announcing former Hibs boss Alan Stubbs as their new manager following Jack Ross’ decision to join Sunderland.
The 46 year old Liverpudlian has emerged as the frontrunner for the post according to STV news.
Stubbs cut his managerial teeth at Easter Road after the Hibees suffered relegation to the Scottish Championship and despite failing to secure promotion back to the top flight, he became an overnight club legend by leading his side to glory in the 2016 Scottish Cup, defeating Rangers 3-2 in a classic final and thus ending a 114 year wait for the illustrious trophy much to the joy of the long suffering support.

Saints have moved swiftly in their search for a new boss and despite being linked with European idols Guti and Patrick Kluivert their preference was a man with experience of the Scottish game and Stubbs ticks the boxes, keeping his eye on the game North of the border as a frequent guest of BT Sport.
Having left Hibs for an ill fated spell in charge of Rotherham United, the popular Scouser will be hoping to rebuild his resume by leading the Paisley outfit to safety following their promotion to the Premiership.
Looks like he has already impressed a few:
Great to see Alan Stubbs back in management. St.Mirren lost a tremendous manager and have replaced Jack with fantastic appointment now. Further evidence of the strength of our glorious game in Scotland 🏴🏆⚽️

Just out Alan Stubbs first press conference. Very impressed. Great talker. Spoke to me about Everton links. Just having something to eat then going to write. Top bloke. Looking forward to working with him. 👍🏻⚽️

Although one Millers fan isn’t quite so sure and is ‘told off’ fairly quickly as well!

You've had a host of managers including warnock who failed at rufc. Every manager will fail eventually. Is warnock a failure? Focus on your own club and stop trolling others
