Hibs will face Stranraer in the Scottish League Cup second round following this afternoons draw and will be pleased to have been drawn as the home side.

The Stair Park outfit defeated Stenhousemuir at the weekend to progress in the competition and have history of knocking so called bigger teams out in previous years.

Now managed by former Ayr United boss Brian Reid, The Blues will hope to catch Hibs on an off night when the two clubs meet on the 25th or 26th August.

Stranraer will be hoping for better luck than the last time these two sides met in the League Cup with the Hibees running out comfortable 5-3 victors in a third round tie two years ago.

A Pat Fenlon managed Hibs were helped to victory thanks to a hat trick from Liam Craig, an own goal and a strike from the instantly forgettable Abdellah Zoubir who faded from the first team picture shortly thereafter during his year long loan from French outfit Istres.

Alan Stubbs side will be huge favourites for the match against the League One outfit and it’s certainly a tie his side should win comfortably.

Elsewhere in the draw, local rivals Hearts face a trip to Forfar Athletic whilst fellow Championship outfit Rangers travel to Airdrie.
