Hibs Close In On McNulty

|

Hibs are set to sign striker Mark McNulty prior to transfer deadline day with the club locked in talks with Reading in a bid to entice the Edinburgh born player back north of the border.

With no further news surrounding Neil Lennon’s future forthcoming, it appears the footballing department are keen to progress with moves for targets identified prior to the January window opening.

McNulty only moved to the Madjeski Stadium during the summer following prolific spells with Portsmouth and Coventry City but his first team outings have been limited following Paul Clement’s departure after a disappointing start to The Royals season.

Ironically, as a 16 year old, the player was released by Hibs having been deemed too small by academy staff led by current Edinburgh City manager James McDonagh, an outsider to become Lennon’s replacement.

McNulty will be viewed as an ideal partner for Florian Kamberi who has struggled as a lone striker in recent times and despite the Swiss striker looking a forlorn shadow of the player who burst onto the Scottish scene last season, it’s clear he’s still a pivotal figure as Hibs seek to climb the Premeirship table and aim for a prolonged Scottish Cup run.
