Hibs & Celtic Players Dominate ‘Team Of The Week’ + Time To Chew The Fat

|

Hibernian FC went to Parkhead on Saturday, and although the 4-2 scoreline, in favour of Celtic flattered Brendan Rodgers side, in my opinion, our boys stood ‘toe-to-toe’ with the Premiership title favourites.

Those in attendance enjoyed a six-goal thriller. However, there were moments when I thought we could have, and should have come away with a point.

Talk about the metaphor, ‘rub of the green,’ but if you think about it, we didn’t get a lot did we. We had a referee, who I have made clear in a recent article that he is not up to standard but hey, Don Robertson was appointed to officiate, and we have to live with it.

I don’t want to sound like I am bitching about the substandard match officials but it seems like Neil Lennon wasn’t too impressed either.

“We get a free-kick on the edge of the box, no yellow card. He (the referee) says he’s not going near the goal, it doesn’t matter, the intention is just to take the player out,” said Neil.

“The Benkovic one for me is borderline red, never mind me, he gets nothing, he’s just took Hyndman completely out.

“He knew what he was doing; there’s no intent to play the ball, so it baffles me why that’s not a yellow card.

“I’m not here to get players sent off. I’m just looking for the referee to do his job properly.”

The result is not the end of the world albeit it felt like it once the referee had blown for full time.

Time for another metaphor

I think its time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and look forward to our next hurdle – Heart of Midlothian.
