Hibs defender David Murphy has said his side are desperate to make amends for letting a two-goal lead slip against Hearts last month by knocking their Edinburgh-rivals out of the CIS Insurance Cup tonight (Wed, Nov 8).

Hearts came from two-goals down to draw 2-2 with Hibernian at Easter Road in their SPL encounter on Oct 15. It was a fiery encounter with nine bookings and a sending-off. Murphy hopes there will be no similar ‘silly mistakes’ tonight as Hibs looks to pile more pressure on troubled Hearts.

He said: ‘There were a couple of silly mistakes and it felt like we lost two points, rather than gaining one. Hopefully we’ll be going out to put that right. We did enough to win the game. We were the better side throughout the 90 minutes and we deserved the three points, but that didn’t happen.

‘You don’t want to see anyone make mistakes, but it happens in football and you’ve just got to get on with it. That is what we’ve done and hopefully there will be no mistakes made this time.’

Hibs squad: Malkowski, Whittaker, Martis, Jones, Murphy, Sproule, Beuzelin, Benjelloun, Stewart, Thomson, Fletcher, Zemmama, Brown, Killen, McNeil, Shields, Shiels, Hogg, Glass.

Hearts squad: Gordon, Neilson, Berra, Tall, Goncalves, Barasa, Hartley, Aguiar, Fyssas, Mikoliunas, Velicka, Zaliukas, Pressley, Banks, Jankauskas, Wallace, Brellier, Mole.
