With the Sol Bamba affair casting a shadow over their ten day Dutch tour, Hibs crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Den Haag despite Michael Hart opening the scoring in the first minute.

It was a much weakened Hibees team from the one which defeated NEC Nijmegen on Monday evening and include fringe players such as Lewis Stevenson, Steven Thicot and Danny Galbraith as well as youngsters Lee Currie and new boy David Stephens.

Derek Riordan was back in the starting X1 following his dramatic arrival and subsequent wonder strike on Monday and was duly made captain for the evening in Chris Hogg’s absence.

It was the newly appointed leader who created the Hibs goal, similar to one against Dunfermline ten days earlier when he saw a free kick hit the bar although Hart was on hand to head home the rebound.

Den Haag equalised ten minutes later through Bujis who was left unmarked to fire past Hibs keeper Mark Brown.

The deserved second came just after the hour mark although Hibs were made to again rue some poor defending after leaving Immers unmarked to head home.

Hibs line up : Brown, Hart (Wotherspoon 56), Stephens (Hogg 65), Hanlon, Stevenson (Murray 65), Thicot, McBride, Currie (De Graaf 56), Galbraith (Miller 56), Stokes, Riordan (Nish 65).
