Following Sunday reports suggesting Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was a contender to replace Terry Butcher in the Hibs hot seat, his agent Simon Dent has wasted no time in confirming the Dutchman’s interest.

Capped 23 times by his national side, Hasselbaink would be a fantastic capture for Hibs given his stature in the game and his agent claims the fact the Easter Road side are plying their trade in the Scottish second tier won’t put his client off.

Dent told the Scottish Sun : ‘Hibs are a big club and they need to be back in the Premiership.

“Jimmy is a proven winner and a great young coach.

“If Hibs were interested in speaking to Jimmy, we would be interested in hearing the club`s plans and the chief executive`s plans.”

The former Chelsea, Leeds and Atletico star has previous experience of coaching at both Stamford Bridge and Nottingham Forest whilst he managed Belgian Second Division outfit Royal Antwerp last season, finishing 7th in the table on a restricted budget.

Hasselbaink’s boss at Forest, Steve McLaren, has also backed the Dutchman telling the same newspaper : ‘ Hibs would be getting a manager of real pedigree – someone who would instantly command respect in the dressing room.’

Hibees CEO Leeann Dempster has already admitted to having received more than 40 applicants for the post with Ian Murray, currently at Dumbarton, the bookies favourite to return to the club.

Other names mentioned so far include Stuart McCall, Danny Lennon and an unlikely return for John Collins however none of those are quite as alluring as Hasselbaink.
