Gordon Hits Out At Romanov

Craig Gordon has been speaking out in today’s News of the World about the Romanov regime at our city rivals Hearts.

The bizarre revelations include Romanov wanting the Tynecastle club to wear Hearts tartan shorts to compliment their home strip although with a printed sporran on the front of them!

Gordon also claims the owner wished to incorporate the Lithuanian national colours into Hearts away top. Unfortunately these are green – and ‘no one could see many Hearts fans queuing up to buy a strip in Hibs colours’

More interesting is his views on the management teams the club has brought in.

Reading between the lines it would appear Scotland’s top keeper had plenty of time for John Robertson, George Burley, Graham Rix and Stevie Frail.

His comments on Valdas Ivanauskas include ‘He failed to take a firm grip of the dressing room’ and ‘allowed things to get out of hand when the dressing room became divided’

Gordon also reveals how Edgaras Jankauskas walked out of a team talk and Ivanauskas ignored him even though Steven Pressley wanted him to act and make an example of him.

Eduard Malofeev comes in for some stick due to his old school training methods which included piggy-backs and WRESTLING!!

Discussing the now infamous Riccarton press conference he said ‘We all felt we were doing something which was for the overall good of Hearts’

‘People can debate all they want now as to whether or not that was right or not but we believed we were about to do something which would have a positive effect. It was a plea to help the club’

‘We didn’t get the reaction from the fans we thought we would, but it had reached a point at Hearts where nothing surprised you.’

Gordon claims Hearts captain at the time Steven Pressley sent Romanov a letter outlining his concerns prior to the Riccarton incident but received no response from the Lithuanian.

He suggests if Romanov had responded the press conference may never have taken place if the problems had been rectified.
