Halloween is a time of year when people celebrate the dark side. Some may go overboard and throw on a fancy dress, and some may plaster their mush with face paint. But what law abiding citizens don’t expect is to go to a football fixture and fear for their safety.

Edinburgh derbies are notoriously venomous, both on and off the pitch but last night’s shenanigans showed the world the amount of passion and some might say, hatred within the City between rival Hearts and Hibs supporters.

The majority of Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian supporters left Tynecastle on Wednesday night bewildered, not so much by the result how an imbecile was able to punch Hearts keeper Zdenek Zlamal and in a separate incident floor Hibs boss Neil Lennon.
