Halloween is a time of year when people celebrate the dark side. Some may go overboard and throw on a fancy dress, and some may plaster their mush with face paint. But what law abiding citizens don’t expect is to go to a football fixture and fear for their safety.
Edinburgh derbies are notoriously venomous, both on and off the pitch but last night’s shenanigans showed the world the amount of passion and some might say, hatred within the City between rival Hearts and Hibs supporters.
The majority of Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian supporters left Tynecastle on Wednesday night bewildered, not so much by the result how an imbecile was able to punch Hearts keeper Zdenek Zlamal and in a separate incident floor Hibs boss Neil Lennon.
There has hardly been a time, especially in recent years when a goalless Edinburgh derby has attracted so much media attention.
By the time the fixture had finished the game itself had played second fiddle to what took place off the field.
It is fair to say it all kicked off in the Edinburgh derby last night…
A last-minute disallowed goal, celebrated by Neil Lennon, caused carnage.

Former Celtic and Hibernian player and manager spoke to Alan Brazil’s talkSPORT breakfast show this morning.
❌ "Ban them for life!"
