Hibs boss Pat Fenlon has urged Leigh Griffiths to keep performing for the Hibees following the SPL’s top scorer’s ommission from the Scotland squad to face Luxembourg in an international friendly next week.

The in form striker has already bagged 11 goals this season following his loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fenlon is sure if he continues his current form a full call up won’t be far away.

“What I have told Leigh is to keep playing and scoring goals. I`m not going to tell Scotland who they should pick. I looked at the squad that was named and it is a decent squad,” said the Easter Road boss.

He continued “Leigh will get his opportunity. I firmly believe if he is
playing the way he is and maturing the way he has then it will happen for him eventually.”

Griffiths had been tipped for inclusion in the squad but was left disappointed after temporary boss Billy Stark opted to include regular frontman Kenny Miller and the recently recalled Steven Fletcher as well as Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes.

Fenlon however believes his star forward will eventually get his dream, admitting “I would love to see it happen for him. He is infectious, a fantastic player with a fabulous attitude.”

The 22 year old will line up against Dundee United this Sunday hoping to add to his season tally and having notched four goals in his previous two league matches is certainly the main threat to the Arabs recent mini revival.
