Hibs have confirmed the signature of Adam Eckersley on a short term deal and the defender becomes the second former Jambo to join up at Easter Road this summer.

Eckersley was released by city rivals Hearts after they won the Championship last season and he’ll join his ex Tynie comrade James Keatings in his new surroundings.

Despite impressing many observers during his spell at Hibees city rivals, the full back has remained without a club this season and has committed to Alan Stubbs’ side until January.

Primarily a left back, he’ll hope to force his way into the starting line up ahead of Lewis Stevenson, seen by many as the weak link of this current Hibs side.

Stubbs has no doubt his new arrival will do well and told the official club website: ‘We’re very pleased to have Adam join the club. He strengthens our defensive options and adds to the competition for places in defence.

‘He has shown his ability at this level in the past and I’m confident he’ll make a positive contribution here.’
