Hibs finished runners-up to rivals Hearts in the Championship, with this status confirmed on Saturday with a convincing win at Falkirk to ensure that we’ll come into the play-offs for a place in the Premiership next season at the semi final stage.

A comfortable three-nil win at the Falkirk Stadium, as first win against them this season, means we’ll now face the winner of the ΒΌ play-off between Rangers and Queen of the South for a place in the Premiership, which is likely to be against Motherwell.

We knew we had to win to secure second place and we couldn’t have got off to a better start with Boyle (5) putting us ahead having been set up by Allan.

Our former midfielder Taiwo almost drew Falkirk level but his effort was deflected wide with our tormentors from the Scottish Cup defeat recently Baird and Sibbald also having chances, which neither could take.

These misses were punished when Cummings (40) went round Falkirk ‘keeper MacDonald to be left with a tap in to make it two at the break, a scoreline that Rangers shared at Hearts as it happened.

With Falkirk pushing to get back into the game this left gaps at the back and we took advantage of this with Cummings putting in Malonga (77) who left
MacDonald with no chance to wrap up our three-nil win and secure second place, with Rangers losing that two-nil lead ending up drawing two-two, not that it mattered to us!
