Out of contract duo Matt Pattinson (pictured) and Donovan Deekman have both arrived at Easter Road for a trial period.

Pattinson, once on Newcastle United’s books, has been capped five times by his native South Africa and most recently spent time at Bidvest Wits in his homeland following spells at Norwich, Mamelodi Sundowns and Engen Santos.

The midfielder featured for his country in the 2014 African Cup of Nations, making an appearance against Mozambique.

Dutch striker Deeknan started his career at Heerenven before spending time in Belgium with Lokeren where he made 32 league appearances. He returned to Holland to sign for Sparta Rotterdam in 2012, netting 20 league goals in his time with The Castle Lords.

Alan Stubbs admitted: “We`ve got a couple of trialists in and we`re actively looking, we`ve just got them in to have a look at them. Whether something comes from it I honestly don`t know. It`s the first day they`ve trained with us.

“There`s going to be players once the window closes who haven`t got clubs. They`re in that boat. We haven`t got a huge amount of money to sign players for fees, so it is going to be free agents and players who are out of contract.

“From now to Monday there could be some movement – I`m hoping there`s going to be.
