Forever written into Hibernian folklore and awarded legendary status by most Hibees, goalkeeper Conrad Logan is to collect a reward in his home county of Donegal.

The Irishman will forever be linked to Hibs historic success following a quite remarkable debut having been out of the game for 14 months through injury and signing a short term deal at Easter Road initially as cover for Mark Oxley.

Having been at the club for only a manner of weeks Logan found himself thrust into the spotlight with a place in the Scottish Cup Final at stake when he lined up against Dundee United at the national stadium after No.1 Oxley was ruled out through suspension.

United must have thought they were quids in when seeing what looked like a keeper plunged from Sunday League football before them but the shot stopper proved to be an invincible barrier producing crucial stops throughout the 90 minutes and extra time before saving 2 penalties in the resultant shoot out to seal Hibs place in the Final where he once again lined up in the starting eleven for the epic 3-2 success- the Hibees first Scottish Cup win in some 114 years.

Logan’s rise from the depths of despair following an achilles injury is fairytale stuff and not only is he remembered fondly by all at Easter Road, has found himself the number one choice at Rochdale who he joined following Neil Lennon’s decision to release him from Easter Road in the aftermath of his appointment.

His heroics at Hampden Park and thereafter successful challenge to become Hibs first choice goalkeeper hasn’t went unnoticed in his homeland and he’ll now be honoured with the Professional Sport Achievement Award at the 2016 Donegal Sports Star Awards which take place in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny on Friday 27th January.

Logan’s award is the only one to be announced ahead of the presentation night and the 30 year old told the official Rochdale website of his delight at receiving the honour.

He said “It`s an honour and privilege to win such a prestigious award – it means a lot.

“I really enjoyed my time at Hibs and I`ll always be grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity to play after returning from injury. Personally, the couple of months that I spent there really couldn`t have worked out any better.

“Winning the Scottish Cup was special. It was a fantastic occasion for everyone involved, particularly the fans, and it was amazing to be part of the side that won the competition for the first time in 114 years.”
