Kris Commons could still re-join Hibs following his emergency loan spell at the club which saw him play five matches for the Easter Road side.

The 33 year old scored two decisive winners during his month long stay and boss Neil Lennon is keen for the player to return.

Commons has been nursing a back injury this week but Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed ongoing dialogue between Hibs, Celtic and the former Nottingham Forest and Derby man stating: “He had a good period at Hibs and they were keen to do something. It was between the clubs in terms of whether they could organise it, but also to do with Kris. Kris`s contract is up. He`s not just looking at the next six months, he is looking at the next few years.”

With the transfer window closing in under 48 hours, Hibs are keen to do business before it closes with Lenny admitting he was down to the bare bones squad wise following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Queen of the South, a result which saw Hibees increase their lead at the top of the Scottish Championship to 8 points.
