Narrow win or not it was a win even if it made little impact on Hearts’ position at the top as they won ten-nil! What the win over Alloa did do was extend our lead over Rangers to four-points after our one-nil win at Recreation Park on Saturday.

The breakthrough came when Allan (26) was able to fire past Alloa ‘keeper McDowall around the midway point of the first half.

We had Oxley, our on loan ‘keeper, to thank for turning away a deflected Roberts effort to maintain our lead with Allan almost grabbing a second from 25-yards but his effort clipped the bar.

Boyle could have secured the lead but it didn’t matter that he didn’t as one was enough!
